All vehicle rentals in Southport are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or vehicle pick-up. This agreement outlines the terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities for that rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Southport, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, with specific age restrictions based on the vehicle type. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of address. Additionally, valid payment information and a security deposit must be provided, along with any other criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Southport office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment along with a security deposit is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All pricing is listed in British Pounds (£) and includes VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. Please return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. The vehicle should also be returned with the same amount of fuel as received; otherwise, refueling charges will apply. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please inform us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur extra fees. You will be held responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, in addition to an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- Basic third-party insurance is included with every vehicle rental. You will find full coverage information and the applicable excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you have opted for additional insurance. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse, or violations of these Terms, remains your responsibility, regardless of your insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle must be used for its intended purpose, and you must adhere to passenger and weight limits. Driving outside designated geographical areas requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by Southport law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses including profit, data, or business losses resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the rental amount you paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not affect liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
