Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or when you collect the vehicle. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance details, charges, and your responsibilities regarding the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Southport, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional charges. A valid full driving licence suitable for the chosen vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit are also necessary, along with any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Southport office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment along with a security deposit is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All pricing is listed in British Pounds (£) and includes VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment partners.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed at this stage. You should return the vehicle in the same condition as when it was collected, allowing for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as appropriate. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when collected, as refueling charges will apply for lower levels. If you anticipate a late return, please contact us without delay, as this may incur additional fees. You will also be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges that arise during your rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find full coverage details and excess amounts in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your potential financial liability. It is wise to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless additional coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous behavior. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting to others or permitting unauthorized drivers is prohibited. Driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly forbidden. The vehicle must be used for its intended purpose only. Exceeding passenger or weight limits is not permitted. Driving outside of the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to immediate rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by Southport law, Car Hire accepts no responsibility for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims is limited to the total amount you paid for the rental in the past year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Southport. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of local courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are published on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
